My Top TV Shows #07: Stargate SG-1 (39)

The completion of this countdown is well overdone and for this I apologize.  This next show on my list is, surprise-surprise, another science fiction program. It is one that I didn’t watch much of until recently and it has quickly climbed the latter to be amongst my favorites.

My Top TV Shows #7: Stargate SG-1

Stargate_SG1_a8

I have to admit that I didn’t know much about show until last year. I had watched the occasional show when it was on television, but it wasn’t until my brother developed an obsession with it that I really got into it.

The show is a classic science fiction program. I think what I find so appealing about it is the fact that it takes a little piece of a bunch of my other favorite Sci-Fi shows and puts them all together.

Like the A-Team, I honestly don’t think that I could choose a singular favorite character, but Richard Dean' Anderson’s character of O’Niel really makes the program. The former McGyver star leads the team that travels through the stargate and into vast worlds and dimensions.

Once he finally left the show, it was not much of a show to behold. For any Science Fiction fan, this is a show that I would def recommend you check out.

However, this is not the last Science Fiction program that you will see on this list. We have bigger, braver new worlds to experience next in our countdown!

Busyness: The Story of My Life

Alright, besides telling you that it has been significant times between and I apologizing for my life being busy and therefore allowing me less time than usual to actually post which I plan to open this post with, I also need to continue my TV show countdown as well as update you with what’s been going on in my life, you may not be seriously concerned with my happenings, and that is perfect fine as well.  My TV show countdown will be a separate post after this one, but for now, the story of my life: Busyness.

Coming into this semester, I imagined that my life would be hectic with the jobs I currently have, clubs and and orgs that I am involved in, classes, homework, trips to the gym, oh and don’t forget my internship. I didn’t imagine how much this would all be. My life has seemed to turn into one giant Planner. Not that I am complaining, I love everything I am doing. I wanted to do this stuff and am having a blast doing so.

I guess the one downside, well there are two really. First off, I rarely get time to see a lot of people that I usually see. It’s not that I don’t want to, I just do not have much time these days. So, if you’re out there and want to see me, please – give me days and times and I will let you know if I am free. I can’t plan anything on my own right now. It’s just not happening.

I guess the other downside is that it will soon be over and the real world will be my new home. I think there is around 52ish days left until graduation and that will fly by as the rest of the semester has. Soon, this will all be over. Its time for that great old tradition of job hunting,

“Holy crappy economy Batman, this is going to be a tough hunt!”

Oh and PS: I am starting to regularly post this blog on Blogger as well as Wordpress. Click here to check it out. So, if you’re a Wordpress person, feel free to read it on there, if you like Blogger, please keep reading it here! I have no preference as long as you read!

My Top TV Shows #08: Boston Legal (37)

Ah, for the first time in a while we have a show that is, sadly to say, not on the air anymore for # 8 in our countdown.

My Top TV Shows #8: Boston Legal

Oh, I still remember watching this show regularly on Tuesday nights. It was a show that my entire family loved to watch together.

Sadly, whenever I seem to mention this show to others, it is received with the same, uncertain response. Does nobody remember this show? Of course, it was on 6ABC, and I know that that network is not as popular as the other ones, but still. Boston Legal was amazing program!

The show co-starred William Shatner and James Spader as best friends and lawyers at a big law firm. The show walked the fine line between a drama as a comedy series as the show was as humorous as it was dramatic. Shatner and Spader were both brilliant in their roles and , although, both had their comedic sides, they were serious and very good at their jobs. My favorite part of any episode would be when Spader delivers a closing argument. He had that cocky sense about him, but he was vicious and sharp when he had to be.  I mean Spader won 2 Emmy’s and was nominated for a third during his performance on the show. Shatner one-upped his co-star registering 4 nominations and a win himself.

I could mention the other cast, which included the delightful, Candice Bergen. (who was nominated twice for her role) However, the primary of the show were the two best friends and their interactions.
If you have any interest in lawyer shows, or have a sense of humor, I would recommend that you view this program. Season 2 was probably the best season, but any of the seasons will do.

Watch and Enjoy!

My Top TV Shows #09: NCIS (36)

Like I said before, I love all the shows on my top 10 list. I just had to organize them into some kind of countdown format.  I know a lot of people who personally love this show, and I love this show, it just
happens to fall at # 9 in my list.

My Top TV Shows #9: NCIS

I still remember first watching NCIS and immediately falling in love with the program. I don’t think that I could accurately pinpoint a single reason for this occurrence. I do credit a lot to Gibbs character, played brilliantly by Mark Harmon. Gibbs is my favorite “leader” of all the cop shows that I watch on TV. He’s tough as nails when he has to be, but also cares deeply for his team. In short, he is a perfect leader.

However, that is far from the only reason. I think the whole cast just blends so nicely together. I honestly don’t think I could pick a “favorite” character on the show, although, this seems to be a common trend amongst my favorite television shows and movies.

I will say that I prefer Ziva’s character over the old character of Kate. I guess, I just grew up watching the show primarily with her and seeing Kate, who lasted just a few seasons into the show, and when I see an episode with her, it just doesn’t seem as natural to me.

NCIS is the #1 show on television, or at least was for a long period of time, and that is quite an honor. It only points to how truly good this show is. So, if you don’t watch it, I recommend tuning in sometime and checking it out. It’s worth a look. The show centers on the, for lack of a better description, the CSI for the Navy. It is a truly unique show and one of the best on television right now. Check it out!

My Top TV Shows #10: The Mentalist (35)

Good morning all!

Yes, I am starting early this morning. There is much to be done on this crappy, rainy day! So, I’m sure everyone is excited to know that I have moved into the top 10 of my TV show countdown. So, here it is, # 10 on my countdown!

My Top TV Shows #10: The Mentalist

I’m not going to lie, this has been a hard countdown to place. I watch a lot, and probably too much television, so choosing a favorite show has been tough. Now, just because the Mentalist sits at 10 doesn’t mean that I like the shows above it substantially more. I love this show, there are just other shows that rank slightly higher on my scale. I guess, that could be said for every show until we actually get to #1.

Anyhoo, I think what draws me to this show is the main character, performed brilliantly by Simon Baker. He is just an average guy with exceptional observational skills. His cocky, yet serious at times, attitude is perfect for the character that he portrays. The guy has it down pat, and what is even more amazing is that Baker is not American; actually Australian, although you would never be able to tell that from his character on the show. (Ironically enough, this characteristic sits with another primary character from a show that will occur
later on this countdown.)

I always viewed The Mentalist as a cop show with a twist to it. Baker provides that “twist” that makes it so much more enjoyable, to me personally, than shows like CSI.  Love him or hate him, you have to admit that the Patrick Jane is damn good at what he does on the show and is easily one of my favorite characters on TV.

My Top TV Shows #11: The Walking Dead (34)

Alright, I’m in the blogging mood so I am going to bombard you guys with a pair of posts this morning. I have mentioned #12 in my countdown so now I am simple going to continue my countdown and give you #11 on my favorite TV show countdown!

My Top TV Shows #11: The Walking Dead

Yes, I know this show is still brand new and I didn’t even get to watch it on TV due to my school’s lack of AMC. However, I saw some of this show online and basically fell in love with it. I managed to find the missing episodes online and got the honor of viewing the entire season.

Yes, this is a zombie show, which may explain why I love it so much, but it is so much more than just a simple blood and gore zombie program. What sets this show apart, while it does indeed have the blood and gore that the genre brings with it, is the character development. The show builds the relationship between those on the show and there is significant character development. You can actually connect to the characters that you are observing.

This is a new breed of science fiction programming. Yes, I know, yet another science fiction program on this list. Trust me, there are several more to come. It is an entirely new viewpoint on looking at the zombie media.
I think anybody that has an interest in the science fiction genre, and more specifically, the Zombie genre, should check out this program. Sadly, season 2 will not be up until October of 2011, but you can be assured that I am counting down the days until this show returns.

Season 1 ended in a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see how they follow it up.

So this brings us to the brink of my top 10. I will begin my top 10 later!

Have a great day everyone!

My Top TV Shows #12: Criminal Minds (33)

Good morning! Good morning! Good morning to all!

So, we inch ever closer to the top 10 of my TV show countdown! Well, let’s forget the small talk and get into #12 on my countdown. A great episode of this show actually was just on a few nights ago, so here is the next installment of my countdown!

My Top TV Shows #12: Criminal Minds

I still remember seeing the very first episode of Criminal Minds. It was the episode that made me fall in love with the show. The combination of Reid and Gideon kind of sold the show for me. Oh and I can’t forget Garcia. Those three were my favorite characters on the program. Sadly, Gideon has left the show, but it is still going strong with each passing episode.

I think what I love about the show is the idea of profiling itself. I could see myself actually doing that someday, but the idea of carrying a gun and being in harm’s way really turned me away from it. I love thinking about the mind and learning how and what people are thinking. I think it’s the Writer’s natural curiosity that makes me so interested. It’s not that I want to be in the field of psychology, but it has always been something that interests me.

I do like the casting of the show, including the three that I mentioned; I think that the team fits nicely together. It seems to be a believable group of people that would be involved in this type of work. I am not so sure about the spinoff though, that may take some time to warm up to, at least for me.

Take the subject matter and the nice cast and you have one of the better current shows that TV has to offer
right now. I would recommend this to everyone.

I may post #11 today, but I am not entirely sure so just wait and see!

My Top TV Shows #13: The A-Team (32)

Hello everyone!

Since my posts on the countdown seem to come in 3s. Here is the third update for today. Another show that is actually not in the Sci-Fi genre, but I can assure you that this will change as we get closer to the top of the list. So, here it is, for your reading pleasure, my top TV show # 13.

My Top TV Shows #13: The A-Team

It’s been ages since I have actually seen the A-Team on TV. I remember in grade school coming home and catching the tail end of an episode that Spike TV had on at 2:00. This was actually the very first show that I acquired a DVD of. Since then, I have purchased two more seasons and own seasons 1-3 of the A-Team and are currently looking for to obtain the next season on DVD.

I think what I love about this show is that it is a perfect combination of actions an comedy. I’m sure everyone knows the general storyline, especially with the movie that recently came out. It is the story of 4 former soldiers, whom are framed for a crime and are on the run from the government. While they do their best to avoid the feds, they help out the lowly in need doing odd jobs around the city of LA and beyond.

The story had a lot of action, even though nobody ever died on the show, and a great amount of comedy along with it. The entire cast is superbly selected. It is so well collected that I cannot actually pick a favorite character amongst the four team members. I could be cliché and say Mr. T, but he is just a small cog in a show that has a lot of strong points. George Peppard is great as the leader, Hannibal Smith. Throw in Dirk Benedict as the con-man,  Templeton “Faceman” Peck, and the hilarious Dwight Schultz as the Looney pilot “Howling Mad” Murdock, and the cast is a hit!

If you haven’t seen it, I would recommend it to everyone. It may be old, but The A-Team is a classic!

My Top TV Shows #14: Law and Order: SVU (31)

As promised, here is # 14 of my Top 25 TV Show countdown. This show is actually not a science fiction program, yes I know you can’t say that about many on this list, but a show that I didn’t really get into until just a few years ago. I credit my roommate, Mr. Nick Volpe, for helping me become a huge fan of this program.

So here it is, # 14…

My Favorite TV Show #14: Law and Order: SVU

Three years ago, I had never seen a single episode of any of the Law and Order variations. However, thanks for the influence of Nick and his undying love for this show, I have become a huge fan of this program.

One thing that I have always enjoyed about this show is the characters. Elliot Stabler and Olivia Bensen are one of the top duos on the television today. They have ideal chemistry and that is a necessity for this genre. Granted some of the storylines seem to be repetitive, but I guess with the specialized group of cops that this show focuses on, this is not a total surprise.

One thing that SVU does so well is their choice of guest stars. Not only do they have a wide range of celebrity guest stars, but the ones they choose always seem to be a fantastic job in their roles. My personal favorites are Robin Williams and Lou Diamond Phillips, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Other guest stars include Martin Short, Angela Lansbury, and Tara Reid and many, many others.

The show provides a nice combo of humor, action, strong acting, as well as the typical “cop” show persona that makes this one of the better shows on television.

Stay tuned for # 13!

My Top TV Shows #15: Two and a Half Men (30)

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I know that I haven’t updated my show countdown in a while so I am throwing a 3-set at you. We have reached the top 15 of my top 25 countdown. So now, I present to you my readers, the 15th show in my countdown. Brace yourself for here it comes!

My Favorite TV Show #15: Two and a Half Men

This show has dropped significantly since my last entry. My high opinion of Charlie Sheen has been deteriorating quickly and with it dropped my interest in this show. It looks like this may be the end of the program since Charlie Sheen keeps digger a deeper and deeper hole for himself. It’s a shame really. This show is one of the funnier ones on television, but the future state seems to be in peril.

One thing I do like about this show is the way that the characters are so vastly different in words and deeds, but they all seem to fit together perfectly with each other. It was that chemistry that first struck a positive note with me when I first saw the program. Charlie Sheen playing the drunken womanizer and Jon Cryer playing the awkward and shy “nice guy” were perfect fits for their roles and the rest of the cast played in nicely.

I really do hope they can save this show and return it to the glory days once again. I’m beginning to think more and more with each passing day that this future will be without Sheen. Although that will change the entire dynamic of the show, it may end up being the smartest move out there. The rest of this season has already been canceled and God knows if it will ever return again. Let’s hope for the best.

Show # 14 will be coming at you soon! Stay tuned!
