My Top TV Shows #07: Stargate SG-1 (39)

The completion of this countdown is well overdone and for this I apologize.  This next show on my list is, surprise-surprise, another science fiction program. It is one that I didn’t watch much of until recently and it has quickly climbed the latter to be amongst my favorites.

My Top TV Shows #7: Stargate SG-1

Stargate_SG1_a8

I have to admit that I didn’t know much about show until last year. I had watched the occasional show when it was on television, but it wasn’t until my brother developed an obsession with it that I really got into it.

The show is a classic science fiction program. I think what I find so appealing about it is the fact that it takes a little piece of a bunch of my other favorite Sci-Fi shows and puts them all together.

Like the A-Team, I honestly don’t think that I could choose a singular favorite character, but Richard Dean' Anderson’s character of O’Niel really makes the program. The former McGyver star leads the team that travels through the stargate and into vast worlds and dimensions.

Once he finally left the show, it was not much of a show to behold. For any Science Fiction fan, this is a show that I would def recommend you check out.

However, this is not the last Science Fiction program that you will see on this list. We have bigger, braver new worlds to experience next in our countdown!

Busyness: The Story of My Life

Alright, besides telling you that it has been significant times between and I apologizing for my life being busy and therefore allowing me less time than usual to actually post which I plan to open this post with, I also need to continue my TV show countdown as well as update you with what’s been going on in my life, you may not be seriously concerned with my happenings, and that is perfect fine as well.  My TV show countdown will be a separate post after this one, but for now, the story of my life: Busyness.

Coming into this semester, I imagined that my life would be hectic with the jobs I currently have, clubs and and orgs that I am involved in, classes, homework, trips to the gym, oh and don’t forget my internship. I didn’t imagine how much this would all be. My life has seemed to turn into one giant Planner. Not that I am complaining, I love everything I am doing. I wanted to do this stuff and am having a blast doing so.

I guess the one downside, well there are two really. First off, I rarely get time to see a lot of people that I usually see. It’s not that I don’t want to, I just do not have much time these days. So, if you’re out there and want to see me, please – give me days and times and I will let you know if I am free. I can’t plan anything on my own right now. It’s just not happening.

I guess the other downside is that it will soon be over and the real world will be my new home. I think there is around 52ish days left until graduation and that will fly by as the rest of the semester has. Soon, this will all be over. Its time for that great old tradition of job hunting,

“Holy crappy economy Batman, this is going to be a tough hunt!”

Oh and PS: I am starting to regularly post this blog on Blogger as well as Wordpress. Click here to check it out. So, if you’re a Wordpress person, feel free to read it on there, if you like Blogger, please keep reading it here! I have no preference as long as you read!

My Top TV Shows #08: Boston Legal (37)

Ah, for the first time in a while we have a show that is, sadly to say, not on the air anymore for # 8 in our countdown.

My Top TV Shows #8: Boston Legal

Oh, I still remember watching this show regularly on Tuesday nights. It was a show that my entire family loved to watch together.

Sadly, whenever I seem to mention this show to others, it is received with the same, uncertain response. Does nobody remember this show? Of course, it was on 6ABC, and I know that that network is not as popular as the other ones, but still. Boston Legal was amazing program!

The show co-starred William Shatner and James Spader as best friends and lawyers at a big law firm. The show walked the fine line between a drama as a comedy series as the show was as humorous as it was dramatic. Shatner and Spader were both brilliant in their roles and , although, both had their comedic sides, they were serious and very good at their jobs. My favorite part of any episode would be when Spader delivers a closing argument. He had that cocky sense about him, but he was vicious and sharp when he had to be.  I mean Spader won 2 Emmy’s and was nominated for a third during his performance on the show. Shatner one-upped his co-star registering 4 nominations and a win himself.

I could mention the other cast, which included the delightful, Candice Bergen. (who was nominated twice for her role) However, the primary of the show were the two best friends and their interactions.
If you have any interest in lawyer shows, or have a sense of humor, I would recommend that you view this program. Season 2 was probably the best season, but any of the seasons will do.

Watch and Enjoy!

My Top TV Shows #09: NCIS (36)

Like I said before, I love all the shows on my top 10 list. I just had to organize them into some kind of countdown format.  I know a lot of people who personally love this show, and I love this show, it just
happens to fall at # 9 in my list.

My Top TV Shows #9: NCIS

I still remember first watching NCIS and immediately falling in love with the program. I don’t think that I could accurately pinpoint a single reason for this occurrence. I do credit a lot to Gibbs character, played brilliantly by Mark Harmon. Gibbs is my favorite “leader” of all the cop shows that I watch on TV. He’s tough as nails when he has to be, but also cares deeply for his team. In short, he is a perfect leader.

However, that is far from the only reason. I think the whole cast just blends so nicely together. I honestly don’t think I could pick a “favorite” character on the show, although, this seems to be a common trend amongst my favorite television shows and movies.

I will say that I prefer Ziva’s character over the old character of Kate. I guess, I just grew up watching the show primarily with her and seeing Kate, who lasted just a few seasons into the show, and when I see an episode with her, it just doesn’t seem as natural to me.

NCIS is the #1 show on television, or at least was for a long period of time, and that is quite an honor. It only points to how truly good this show is. So, if you don’t watch it, I recommend tuning in sometime and checking it out. It’s worth a look. The show centers on the, for lack of a better description, the CSI for the Navy. It is a truly unique show and one of the best on television right now. Check it out!

My Top TV Shows #10: The Mentalist (35)

Good morning all!

Yes, I am starting early this morning. There is much to be done on this crappy, rainy day! So, I’m sure everyone is excited to know that I have moved into the top 10 of my TV show countdown. So, here it is, # 10 on my countdown!

My Top TV Shows #10: The Mentalist

I’m not going to lie, this has been a hard countdown to place. I watch a lot, and probably too much television, so choosing a favorite show has been tough. Now, just because the Mentalist sits at 10 doesn’t mean that I like the shows above it substantially more. I love this show, there are just other shows that rank slightly higher on my scale. I guess, that could be said for every show until we actually get to #1.

Anyhoo, I think what draws me to this show is the main character, performed brilliantly by Simon Baker. He is just an average guy with exceptional observational skills. His cocky, yet serious at times, attitude is perfect for the character that he portrays. The guy has it down pat, and what is even more amazing is that Baker is not American; actually Australian, although you would never be able to tell that from his character on the show. (Ironically enough, this characteristic sits with another primary character from a show that will occur
later on this countdown.)

I always viewed The Mentalist as a cop show with a twist to it. Baker provides that “twist” that makes it so much more enjoyable, to me personally, than shows like CSI.  Love him or hate him, you have to admit that the Patrick Jane is damn good at what he does on the show and is easily one of my favorite characters on TV.
